TODAY I WILL NOT PROCRASTINATE

7. Today I will not procrastinate

"I'm a procrastinator"!  There I said it. I'm notorious for putting things off until the last minute - but I work well under pressure (at least that is what I tell myself). So today I hit the ground running. By 8:30 am I had already dressed myself, got both girls ready for school and taken the dog to the groomer. I came home,  reconciled the banking statements and completed two orders for my business, The Preppy Poppy all by 10:45. I'm on fire! Who knew NOT procrastinating felt so good!

MY VOW TO MY FAMILY

We Will Eat Healthy

#113. Buy fresh veggies and prepare that day

In an effort to rid our home of preprocessed foods and packaged garbage, I have made a vow to myself and my family...Today is the day that we start snacking on carrots - not candy. Today IS the day!

Last weekend I invited several friends to my home for a girls' retreat. I purchased a veggie tray, because lets face it...who has the time to wash, prep and store vegetable platters? You know who does, ME! I picked up my favorites this morning: Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots and Cucumbers. I then washed and prepped my fresh goodies and put them away for storage. Do you know what I discovered about myself, I am lazy. Laziness is the only explanation I have for feeding my family junk. Laziness is the only explanation I have for throwing an item in the microwave and serving it for dinner. Pure and utter laziness. I don't appreciate that quality in myself, and I don't like it for my family.  So today...as I said before,  I've made a vow to health.

This is how I spent my morning:
This is my favorite extra large colander that fits right over the sink. I love it!

WÜSTHOF is our preference for knives (though, I know you Henckels fans will heartily disagree)

These are AMAZING. Heft Meal Portion Pans. You receive (2) three compartment pans. Perfect for making your own mini vegetable platter at home! You can also store leftovers and reheat your food in these containers as well - they are microwave safe.

Notice how nicely your freshly cut veggies are stored. Easy access for snacking throughout the day!

AND...they stack so nicely too!

Taking up a minimal amount of space in your refrigerator!

MOST CALL IT SHAMEFUL - I CALL IT "NORMAL"

BUT that doesn't mean I can't change......I have a problem - laundry is consuming my home. I seem to be incapable of starting a load of wash, placing it in the dryer and immediately putting it away. I am.....INCAPABLE (there I said it)!

When I have visitors in my home, I have spent hours tidying, organizing and cleaning, before they arrive. I have consistently maintained the illusion that I have it together domestically. On the contrary, I have only maintained the ability to keep people fooled. You see, on any given day - this is the laundry situation in my home:

Not Martha's Laundry Room

Clothes Drying on a Rack

Laundry Pouring Over the Side of Daughter's Basket

Dirty Towels Thrown into an Unused Bathtub (I do towels once a week)

More Air Dry Clothes Waiting for their Turn on the Rack

Clean Clothes I carelessly Stacked onto of the Dogs Crate (MORTIFIED)

Starting today, I'm scratching #2 off my list! I will attempt to get a minimum of one load of laundry done each day. (Insert dilemma) A vast majority of our clothing requires to be line dried. Needless to say, once the items go on the dry-rack, I forget about them....and there the items sit for the next week...air drying! So I need some advice, what do you do in these situations? How do you handle your laundry? Can you help me fix my wrongs in the Laundry Room?  SOS!!

2. Do laundry (i.e. clothes), fold and put away immediately

Nice to Meet You

Hi my name is Angela. Most people know me as the owner of The Preppy Poppy, Wife of "Monkey" (Hubby's call-sign, he is a Navy Pilot) and I'm proudly known as Mommy. With that said, I can honestly say that I only know myself by a single term. A phrase that sticks in my brain each time I've botched a pot roast (to date, five times) or buy baked goodies from the store (because I'm incapable of baking my own) for the school bake sale. The name to which I'm referring is: Domestic Failure.

In an effort to better myself and become in touch with my domestic side, I've comprised a list of 300 items that I believe will help me evolve into a better homemaker. I'm a flop in the kitchen, my efforts are feeble at best. My cleaning skills are...who am I kidding I have no"skills".  Take a look at my list, just click on the tab 365. Maybe you would even like to take this journey with me. I'll be asking for your input and assistance along the way. Help me transform myself from a Domestic Mess into my Domestic Best in 365 days.

P.S. I'm also known as Ang to all my dear friends
