Thanksgiving Eve

Thanksgiving is a holiday for giving thanks for the elements that have enriched our lives. It goes without saying, that I am incredibly grateful for my beautiful family and all the joy they bring me.

We are doing a non-traditional Thanksgiving dinner this year. Originally, we discussed making tamales, going out for Mexican or even Chinese. Instead, we opted to do a small ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, rolls and pumpkin pie.  We excluded countless items from our menu (uh, one being the turkey) to adapt to the circumstances this year. We will not have immediate or extended family joining us. We will not be traveling to family. It will just be my husband, two  daughters, our dog and myself.

Without the stress of cooking a big meal, we will be able to enjoy more of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, football and family time. Less clean up, means more time to kick my feet up and relax. For this, I am thankful. While we will miss our family dearly this year, this is a nice change in pace.

(I've had the pleasure of seeing the Rockettes. They are amazing!)

A moment of randomness:

This morning started out by watching The Curious George Movie. Complete with an amazing soundtrack by Jack Johnson. This isn't the first time we have watched this movie, not even the tenth. I watch for the soundtrack. I watch because I can snuggle with my children and listen to the relaxing melodies of Sing-A-Longs and Lullibies.  This is by far my all-time favorite children's cd, I never grow tired of "3 R's", "People Watching", "We're Going to be Friends" and "Broken". While this movie and soundtrack have been around for a long time, they continues to bring a smile to my face.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

  1. Love The Soundtrack Too--there's just something about Jack Johnson doing it that makes it "grown up." Enjoy the less traditional Thanksgiving...I wanted to do pizza and margs, but my older brother expressed his displeasure, the good news is I still get my Margs :D
    Happy Hump Day!!!
