Oh The Places You'll Go

Do you have a family travel tradition? Our family likes to collect magnets of the places we have visited. Magnets may seem incredibly cheesy, however, I can't help but smile, each time I reach for the refrigerator door.  Instantly, I am taken back to a moment in time where we laughed, relaxed, went sightseeing and created memories.

Here are just a few from our collection:

These magnets represent trips to: Las Vegas, Cozumel, Kauai, Hearst Castle, Vancouver Island, Disneyland, Disney World, Washington D.C., Paris and Turks &Caicos.

Sadly, we have visited multiple other locations, but for some reason, didn't come home with a cheesy memento. If we ever go back, you better believe we will be buying a magnet!

  1. I keep all of my "cheesy" vacation magnets on my washing machine...it takes some of the drudgery out of laundry duties!

  2. I'm all about the cheesy reminders of stuff. I've got about 50 shot glasses of places I've been. They take up room, and you can't really display them in a "nice" way....but they are cheap, and I love looking through them.

  3. We collect magnets too! Sometimes we mix it up and get an ornament to hang on our Christmas tree. I love having some sort of reminder of places we've gone to visit and we've loved!

  4. I've always collected postcards and keep them in an album--less space! We usually get one Christmas ornament per trip and we also collect the smashed pennies!

  5. We collect magnets too! I started to pick up Christmas ornaments too, but I'm not very good at remembering that one yet :)

  6. We do Christmas ornaments...every time we go somewhere new we get one. It makes decorating the tree so fun!

  7. This is a great post! We always get Christmas ornaments. I think it's weird to have random ornaments on our tree (when the rest of it is covered in lenox and crystal decorations), but I think if my mom would have a separate vacation ornament tree it would be cool. My parents started from when they honeymooned in Hawaii. I also used to collect spoons and my brother collected bells when we traveled (our grandparents got us started on that). They aren't very unique though. That's why I like magnets or ornaments more! Do your girls each get something of their own to collect too?

  9. We typically buy a really bad coffee mug whenever we travel out of state. Though have forgotten in some states and kinda kick ourselves afterward. It is funny to look at them again - and roll your eyes because they're THAT bad. But we always laugh hysterically picking them out.

My daughters buy a patch they put on their backpacks every time they travel too. Pretty cute.

  10. That's such a great idea! Wonderful way to relive your happy times while you're getting milk out of the fridge.

    Wish I'd thought of it!
