Fa la la la la la la la la......BLAH!

I need a Christmas spirit injection! Some form of supplement that will instantly make me want to sing Christmas carols and deck the halls.  This year has been a bit blah. I'm not quite sure why. Part of me thinks my funk is because Christmas snuck up on us so quickly. Another part of me wants to blame my mood on the weather. Mother Nature has been providing us with 70+ degree temperatures this December. Another theory, is that our biggest event this year, has already taken place. Which was, of course, my husband coming home after an 8 month deployment!  Everything else obviously pales in comparison.

Nonetheless, I have found a way to plaster a smile, decorate the house and blast holiday music through our home.  After-all, we have little girls who are MORE than excited about Christmas. So, I'm faking it.

Here are a few of our Christmas decorations from this year. I didn't put all of our decorations up, just enough to make our home feel festive. In addition, I'm including pictures of my three favorite elves making and decorating Christmas cookies. We usually do gingerbread houses, but decided on cookies this year.

We also had family portraits made recently...Here are some pictures we took after we got home (so you can see what our color scheme was) from our session. I can't wait to see what Michelle (a fellow Navy wife) captured!

  3. Love your house!! We haven't even put up our Christmas tree yet (I'm in Tokyo for work all week) so you are not alone in the "Christmas came out of nowhere" feeling! And I can imagine how everything would pale in comparison to the Mr. being home! Hope you have a lovely holiday. :)
